Employment Training and Preparation (ETP) programs at 草莓视频 have been providing students with a supportive learning environment to explore opportunities in life, learning and work for close to 40 years.

Non-academic programs are available to help students decide on a career or education path, or prepare for employment. Programs last four to eight months and equip students with new skills, work experience and a college certificate.
鈥淪tudents walk away, at the end of their time in ETP, as college graduates with useful skills and experienes to continue their explorations in life.鈥
Laura Friesen, ETP instructor and program chair
鈥淧ost-secondary education can sometimes feel out of reach for many,鈥 says Laura Friesen, program chair and instructor. 鈥淭his is especially true for those who received extra support in high school or identify as experiencing barriers. However, ETP has no prerequisites. The first step is simply a conversation to determine if the student鈥檚 goals align with the program. From there, students can enroll in programs that offer real-world essential skills or gain sector-specific employment training, all tailored to their pace and needs, with continuous guidance and support. This happens in a very diverse community of students and staff that feels safe and joyful! Students walk away, at the end of their time in ETP, as college graduates with useful skills and experiences to continue their explorations in life.鈥
Typically, throughout the academic year, there are around 48 ETP students in addition to 12 to 14 Pathways students.
鈥淓TP programs are flexible to meet each student鈥檚 interests, strengths and needs. Students explore opportunities and resources to pursue further learning, volunteering, and employment,鈥 adds instructor Mark Fournier. 鈥淓TP learning labs support students to practice their skills and confidence, while contributing to the college community. We want to facilitate connection, belonging and growth 鈥 not just for ETP students, but for the whole community.鈥
Learn more about ETP programs and supports through these student journeys:
